Event Appeal of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Mytholmroyd makes a big difference to the Children of Bethlehem

Mrs Kay Pierce reports, “The theme for Advent was ‘We can make a difference’. The Good Shepherd will be making a difference to the lives of mothers and their children in Bethlehem and the surrounding West Bank. In our Advent Appeal the church raised £750. This will be going to support the work of the Caritas Baby Hospital in Bethlehem which treats over 30,000 children each year. Children are the greatest victims of the ongoing occupation of Palestine by Israel which has led to high levels of poverty and hygiene levels are low. Many children are malnourished and a permanent shortage of access to water exacerbates the situation.

The hospital focuses on providing medical aid, social work, school for mothers, nursing training and projects to fight poverty and disease through early intervention and education. They help the youngest and most vulnerable in Bethlehem and the surrounding areas.
